Have you insured your biggest asset?

What is your biggest asset? You’re probably thinking about your home or business – but you should be looking in the mirror! For most Kiwis, their earning potential is their biggest asset and it’s often overlooked from an insurance perspective.

I became a financial advisor after a 20-year career in receivables management, where I regularly met people who found themselves in financial hardship due to events outside their control. I saw an opportunity to proactively prevent this from happening, by providing tailored insurance cover that gives people a plan B.

I provide an ethical financial service journey and bring clarity and simplicity to the process. My natural curiosity keeps your best interests front and centre and ensures that we find the best solution for your lifestyle, priorities and budget.

Insurance protects you from the 'Whats Ifs'

Life’s big ‘What Ifs’ aren’t nice to think about, but identifying your areas of risk is the first step to putting your safety net in place. By asking the tough questions, we can recommend solutions that provide a plan B and give you and your loved ones peace of mind.

Personal insurance provides the solutions to these questions, and there are options for every budget. Knowing that you’ll be ok financially if the worst happens removes a lot of stress and makes it easier to enjoy life.

__ For Example

What would happen if you passed away tomorrow?

  • Would you be leaving your partner with a big mortgage, or outstanding debts?
  • Would your children be able to continue the same standard of education?
  • Would your family be able to stay in the family home?

What would happen if a physical or mental health incident put you out of work for a year?

  • Could you keep up with your mortgage payments?
  • Could you afford specialist medical treatment?
  • Would you need to set up a Givealittle page, or rely on friends and family?
  •  Could you afford to retrain, if you couldn’t go back to work in the same industry?
  • Would your relationship survive the additional financial stress?

When did you last review your insurance?

As a financial advisor, I know Insurance isn’t a ‘set and forget’ scenario. As your life moves along and your priorities change, your insurance needs to change with them. If it’s been a while since you had an insurance review, your insurance might be busy protecting the things you cared about 10 years ago, not the things that matter now.

I’m always happy to catch up and review your current insurance. We might need to make major changes or small tweaks, or you might have a solid plan in place that already suits your needs. If that’s the case, I won’t try to upsell you or get you to switch policies for no reason – I’ll just say good on you for having it sorted! A review is also a good opportunity to ask questions about what your current insurance policy means or what it covers.

The Process

Getting your insurance sorted is a simple four step process.

Understanding your needs

We'll catch up over the phone, in person or over Zoom for an initial discussion - this usually takes about 30 minutes. I'll ask about your goals, lifestyle and finances, and talk you through some of the different types of insurance.

  • 15 - 30 minutes

  • Zoom
  • Phone Call
  • In Person

Tailoring the solution

I'll compare products from a range of insurance providers to find a solution that meets your needs. I'll present this back to you, along with industry comparisons, quotes, and the pros and cons of each policy.

Sorting out the paperwork

Once you have chosen your insurance solution, we will complete the required application forms and wait for the insurance companies to come back to us with approval, before we begin with finalizing your cover.

  • Getting approval

Setting up a review period

Once a year we'll sit down to reevaluate your insurance and make sure it's still the best fit for your lifestyle and your budget. If you need to make a claim, I'll be there to go in to bat for you with the insurance companies.
